Hi everyone!

My name is Alyssa and I was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada to a family from Guyana. I always loved to write stories with pencils, crayons, and lined paper, staple them together, and read them to my little sister. She loved them and still has a few!

 

Growing up, I did not know if I would ever become an author. Throughout school, my favourite subjects were Creative Writing, Art, and French. In high school, I continued with my art, but did not write as often. In college, I graduated some courses with the first being Fashion Studies, and the second being Art Fundamentals. I really wanted to do something with art, but was still exploring.

In that time, I decided to get a part-time job and work on my first book, The Power of the Moon and Sun. It wasn’t until after I had finished that I decided to go back to school to study Graphic Design. In my second semester of Graphic Design, I self-publised The Power of the Moon and Sun, and in 2020, I wrote and published its prequel, a novella called Written in the Stars: Omari's Story which was told in the point of view of Omari, one of the supporting characters from the previous novel.

 

In 2021 I published a new book series called The Tides and in 2024 I published its' sequel The Gathering Storm.

Having always wanted to illustrate children's books, I decided to write and illustrate a book after receiving an iPad with Procreate. So far I have written, illustrated, and published three children's books: The Tiger Prince, Big Blue, and Tango the Toucan.
